As part of the forthcoming Engineering Campaign, being facilitated by the Engineering and Technology Board (ETB), the Nuffield Foundation has partnered the ETB to launch a scheme for engineering bursaries that provides funded placements for high quality further education students who are undertaking a focused project in industry.
Bursaries are available to engineering students at further education colleges studying level 3 to 5 qualifications in Northern Ireland, Wales, and in England in the North East and East Midlands. The bursary placement should last between 4-6 weeks and run's over the summer holidays.
The Bursary scheme:
- Requires host companies to provide specific research projects that the bursary holders can work throughout the period
- Places only high quality motivated students who are paid a bursary (£75 per week) by the Engineering Technology Board
- Matches students interest and expertise to company requirements
Both businesses and students benefit from the scheme. Unlike work experience schemes, students carry out projects which are well defined from the start and have an outcome that is achievable within the time available and which make a contribution to the work of the host organisation.
Places are limited so please contact Sally Hollier at Leicestershire Education Business Company ASAP for more information on the scheme and information on how to apply on 0116 240 70000 or send Sally an email. For more details see: http://www.nuffieldfoundation.org/go/grants/nsbsc/page_550.html
